Building Details:
214 N Tryon St is located in Charlotte, NC.
The 46-story Hearst Tower is Charlotte's fourth tallest building and contains 970,002 rentable sq. ft. The Hearst Tower features a high-rise element that combines horizontal bands of glass with strong vertical piers of stone and precast concrete. The building has a reverse floorplate design which gives the tower its distinctive flared out appearance towards the towerÕs top. The 32 floor tower rests atop a 15 floor podium which contains the building lobby, a 1,400 space parking garage, retail, and Trading Floor. The Trading Floor gives the Hearst Tower its unique Òbuilding within a buildingÓ concept. One of the largest trading floors in North America, the three-story operation features a massive wall of Pilkington glass to maximize the amount of natural light reaching the floor. The materials used throughout the building are rich, evoking the art deco period with a color scheme of black, white, gray and bronze. Black Chinese granite bands the exterior and is also found in the lobby and elevator cabs. Bronze stairway and balcony grilles from a 1920s Paris department store are found within the College Street lobby. Leading to the main entrance of the building is the Hearst Plaza, a beautiful outdoor plaza that is lined with restaurants, shops, galleries and landscaped planters. At the entrance of the plaza is a 10-foot cast glass and bronze fountain.
